San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Mar 16 – The statue of General Ignacio Allende adorns a corner of the building where he was born, in 1769, in the square dedicated to him in the historic center of the city of San Miguel de Allende. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2008, San Miguel is one of the most loved cities in Mexico, rich in artistic and architectural treasures, visited every year by thousands of tourists and visitors. The city is located in the state of Guanajuato, 270 kilometers north of the capital. The city owes its name to San Miguel Arcangel and to General Ignacio Allende, hero of the 1810 War of Independence against Spanish rule.
